Jawline Consultation in Burswood

The width of the lower face comes from bone, muscle and the soft tissue over both. At Eila in Burswood, a jawline consultation works out which, by looking at your jaw at rest and in movement, and at how it sits with your cheeks and chin.

The concern

The shape of the lower face.

The width of the lower face comes from the jawbone, the chewing muscles at the angle of the jaw and the soft tissue over them.

At your consultation your practitioner looks at each of these, at rest and in movement, and at the balance between your jawline, cheeks and chin. Until we know which one it is, nobody should be suggesting anything.

A jawline consultation is a 30-minute appointment. For definition of the chin and jawline, see chin and jawline contour under volume loss.

Sometimes the width is simply the shape of your face, and the honest answer is to leave it alone. We will say so.

A jawline plan is reviewed at two weeks and built over months, not decided in one appointment.

Risks and recovery.

Every cosmetic treatment carries risk. Bruising, swelling, redness and tenderness are common and usually settle within days. Less often, a result can be uneven or need adjusting at your review. Serious complications are rare, and your practitioner explains the ones that apply to your plan, the signs to watch for and who to call, before you decide. Having nothing done is always one of the options.

How long is a jawline consultation? +

Thirty minutes. New clients start with a 30-minute First Consultation.

Is it my jaw or the muscle? +

That is the first thing we check. The width can come from the jawbone, the chewing muscles at the angle of the jaw, or the soft tissue over them, and the plan is different for each.

Is a jawline consultation the same as chin and jawline contour? +

No. A jawline consultation is about width at the angle of the jaw. Chin and jawline contour is about definition and structure along it. They are different appointments, planned differently, and your consultation works out which question you are really asking.

Is it my weight? +

Sometimes. A fuller lower face can come from soft tissue as much as from the jaw, and weight changes often show there first. We look at the whole face before naming a cause.

What should I tell you first? +

Any jaw pain or clicking, and any dental work planned in the next few weeks. If something needs a dentist or doctor first, we will say so.

Who should not book? +

Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding. Tell us about your health, your medicines and any treatment you have had on your face before.

Is the jaw part of a bigger plan? +

Sometimes. If the question is really the whole lower face, we may suggest a facial balancing consultation, which looks at the chin, cheeks and jaw together.
