What happens at a skin assessment: your first visit in Robina

Here is the difference nobody explains: a consultation sells you a treatment, an assessment tells you the truth about your skin. At our Robina clinic, your first visit is firmly the second kind.

It starts with a conversation, not a camera

Before anyone looks at your skin under a light, we talk. What is bothering you, what you have already tried, what you want to keep, and what would still feel like you. The best plan starts with understanding the person, not photographing the problem.

Then we actually look

Only after that conversation do we assess the skin itself — texture, tone, barrier, congestion, sensitivity and how your skin tends to behave. The point is to understand what is really going on, not to match you to whatever treatment is being promoted this month.

You get the honest version

That includes the parts other places skip: what will not suit you, and what is not worth your money yet. Sometimes the most useful outcome is being told to simplify your routine and wait, rather than start a treatment. Restraint is part of good care.

How to prepare

Bring the products you are actually using — including the ones you bought and quietly abandoned in a drawer. They tell us a lot. A rough history of past treatments helps too. Beyond that, there is nothing to prepare.

Why we will not skip it

Skin treated without understanding is skin treated by guesswork. The assessment is what makes the plan specific to you, which is exactly why we start every pathway with one.

Bring with you

Your current products (and the abandoned ones), a rough treatment history, and the questions on your mind. You never have to book anything on the day.

Common questions

What happens at a first skin assessment? +

It starts with a conversation about your skin history, concerns, current routine and goals, then a proper look at your skin. You leave with a clear view of what suits you, what does not, and what to prioritise.

How should I prepare? +

Bring the products you are using — including the ones you bought and abandoned — and a rough history of any treatments you have tried. There is nothing else you need to do.

Do I have to book a treatment? +

No. The assessment exists to work out what your skin actually needs. You are never expected to decide anything on the day.
